I’m a big fan of Jon Gordon. You can’t read one of his books without feeling that “glass half full” emotion. You love the story line. You love the message. When you read the last page and close the book, you feel empowered as a leader to make a positive difference in the world in which you work and play. Gordon’s book, The Coffee Bean, written with Damon West (author of The Change Agent), is a quick read on how important our perspective is regarding our own lives and how such a change in perspective can actually impact not just ourselves but others as well. And it all centers on the type of person we choose to be: a carrot, a hard-boiled egg, or a coffee bean. (Hint: you might want to be a coffee bean.)

Buy the book. Read it. Make changes, where necessary, in your thinking. Focus on what you can control. Then make a positive difference, where such can be made, in the lives of others.
