The Beekeeper Book Review

“Be the source of growth for the team.”

Is simplicity synonymous with leading? Perhaps not always. One could say with all the leadership books available that being a good leader must be a complicated adventure. Nevertheless, the importance of being a good leader can’t be overstated. There are some very good books to help one navigate the waters of managing or overseeing others. Which leads me to the book, The Beekeeper. Sometimes when we need answers to questions on leadership in a quick and enjoyable way, we need a book like The Beekeeper. It is a refreshing parable on the positive impact effective leadership has on an organization and its employees. Through the various examples provided, the authors illustrate that active leaders who nourish the various levels of employees help the company achieve its objectives.

The authors, Desiderio and Frino, use the backdrop of a farm, a family vacation, and bees to highlight or bring attention to the “Be Mindset” using “Be” keywords on leadership, I.e. Be Fulfilled, Be Transformational, Be Present, Be Curious, Be Nourished, Be Vulnerable, etc. In the end, as the authors discuss, leaders who want to successfully take their companies to the next level, need to become “be” keepers.

If you are a leader or aspire to become a leader, read this book!
